An Ontario cottage resort vacation is perfect for families with children. Housekeeping cottage resorts offer families vacationing with children more flexibility than other types of resort accommodations. At an Ontario cottage resort, families can prepare their own meals, not only eliminating the expense of eating out, but allowing families, especially those with young children, the ability to cater to everyone's needs on their own schedule. Another advantage that lakefront housekeeping cottage resorts like Pine Vista have for family holidays is that there will be other families at the resort as well. This gives children, and their parents, the opportunity to make new friends. Just like at summer camp, sometimes the friends you make over the summer contribute greatly to the fond memories of vacationing in Ontario's cottage country.
An Ontario housekeeping cottage resort vacation also has advantages over a private cottage rental. Pine Vista Resort, a 4 star cottage resort property, offers a host of facilities and wide array of recreational activities and amenities that private cottage rentals simply can't provide. At Pine Vista, we have a fabulous children's summer program and extensive activities for teens and adults. We have a large heat pool, hot tub, outdoor and indoor children's play areas, a library, coin operated laundry, a fleet of boats, air hockey, volley ball, shuffleboard, ping pong, and the list goes on. No ordinary cottage rental could possibly offer what our Kawartha Lakes housekeeping cottage has for an enjoyable cottage vacation.
You can book your Ontario resort getaway at Pine Vista Resort with confidence, knowing that Pine Vista Resort is a Canada Select Property. Canada Select is Canada's only national accommodations rating program. Canada Select thoroughly inspects and then ranks Canadian resorts, inns and cottage resort rentals using a star rating system. Stoney Lake, also known as Stony Lake, is famous throughout Ontario as the "Jewel of the Kawarthas". Part of a two lake chain, Stoney Lake is referred to as Stony Lake on federal and provincial maps. Locally, the arm of the lake that extends to the east is known as Upper Stoney Lake. The central body of water that makes up the lake is known to its residents as Stony Lake. And, the arm stretching out to the south is known as Clear Lake. Over 20 miles long from Young's Point to the lake's eastern shores, Stoney Lake encompasses over 1,000 islands and rivals Muskoka Ontario for its classic 'cottage country' beauty. The lake is enjoyed by its seasonal and year-round residents, resort vacationers, fishermen and by boaters using the Trent-Severn Waterway. The Trent Severn Waterway system runs from Lake Ontario in the south all the way north to Georgian Bay. Here on Stoney Lake, you can observe many different types of boats, from small fishing boats to million dollar motor yachts passing through.
Pine Vista Resort and Stoney Lake are part of the Kawartha East region of the Trent Severn Waterway which covers the area from Lakefield up to Bobcaygeon. This section of the waterway includes Lock 26 at Lakefield, Lock 27 at Young's Point, and Lock 28 at Burleigh Falls. All of these locks are within a short drive of Pine Vista and are well-worth visiting. People gather at the locks to watch the constant parade of boat traffic maneuver through the locks or to have a picnic at one of the tables provided for visitors and tourist by Parks Canada. Each of the three Kawartha East locks is unique. Right beside Lock 27, at Young's Point, visitors will find the Lockside Trading Company Store. Located in a century home, the Lockside Trading Co. is a gift, furniture and collectable shop with an amazing assortment of interesting items for sale. At Lock 28, Burleigh Falls is very scenic, due in large part to the falls, and draws photographers and fishermen alike.
