What's New

Hi Again

We are now into our shut down period and are very busy doing maintenance around the resort. The snow has pretty much melted but the ice is still in the lake, my guess is by next week it will be on its way out. We had a very successful March Break again this year, the snow held out till the very end, which was great for all our activities.

New to this year! We have built an extensive nature boardwalk through our wetlands. Guests will enjoy hiking this part of our trail system while learning about the animals that live there. We will be using this boardwalk in our recreation programs this year as part of an educational learning environment for the kids.

I will post some more Pine Vista news soon.

Take care everyone!

Meet the horses

Thought you might like to meet the horses that are in charge of the sleigh rides here at the resort.

Elaine (on the left) and Rose (on the right)

Carl Drain who is their owner has been providing the sleigh rides for over 15 years. We are very greatful for all of their hard work; the sleigh rides are one of the biggest highlights for our guests staying with us.

What's New

What have we been up to at the resort you may ask? Well here’s the latest.

We are currently working on installing individual Satellite TV to all of our cottages.

What does this mean for our guests?

Instead of being able to watch the few channels that we currently have on from our central satellite system, you will now be able to access over 200 channels from your very own direct satellite receiver located in the living room of every cottage.

We are very excited about this new project, we currently have the first phase done, and with the complete project wrapping up by the end of March.

I will keep you posted on how the job is going and with more news from the resort coming soon.

Take Care

Kevin

Another Snow Day

We are working hard again with keeping up with the snow that is falling as we speak. The forecast is saying we are to get 15cm or (for our American friends 6 inches) of the white stuff which is ok by us.

While we are on the subject! Want to have some fun oudoors? Check out Smith-Ennismore- Lakefield PolarFest Weekend.

 You can visit them @www.polarfest.ca

PolarFest is an exciting family festival, offering something for everyone to enjoyFun filled events will span the Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield throughout the weekend of January 30, 31 & February 1st, 2009.

Enjoy your weekend

Winter Report

Well it’s been really cold here over the last week, snow is still piling up which has made for a few snow days for the kids, lake conditions are great for snowmobiling now, and our ice rinks have been well used while a hockey team stayed with us over the weekend.

We have been keeping a groomed trail for skiing around the back bays of Stoney this year which has been nice for anyone who would prefer to ski without any hills.

For those who like to watch the deer, we have them hanging out at our bird feeder in front of the office, and we have set up a feeding station up the trails for them, they seem to not be shy of the busy surroundings around them.

For anyone wanting to get outdoors this winter, check out our last minute deals page, we have new specials available until March.

Bye for now.

Kids Klub Rocks

Hi Kids Klub

The Laker's Link magazine has just been published for September 2008 and guess what... we made the front cover!  A big round of applause to all the kids who participated in our weekly craft and bake sale.  Together you raised $1400 for the animals at LAWS.  Mary, Chris, Puppy and Newman (two furry friends)  joined us for the presentation ceremony with Puppy and Newman accepting the cheque.  The whole LAWS gang was blown away by all the hard work you all did to raise this awesome amount.   LAWS will hang a plaque in their new building to recognize Pine Vista Resort Kids Klub and all their hard work throughout the years.

Great Job!!

Have fun this week as you return back to school and get to see all your friends.  Hope to see you all again soon!

Kevin and all of us at Pine Vista

Kids Klub Photo's

Hi Kids

I have put in some new photos of our Charity Event and Kids Klub group pictures from the summer. I know there may be a few weeks missing but they are all I have. If any parents out there have any of the weeks we are missing, please feel free to send them to me and I will post them in the photo gallery.

Check in next week and I will have the total of what our Kids Klub raised for LAWS this year.

We are now in our 2nd last week of the summer and our recreation programs are still going strong, we have had the largest groups ever this year which has made our programs the best.

Talk to you soon.

Hi from PV Land

Hi from PV Land

Well you can tell from the last time we chatted we have been very busy here at the resort. We did not have a winner for our Horsin around contest…. “sorry!”  I know; I heard, the question was to hard. We will start a summer photo contest shortly keep watching the blog for further details and start date.

Summer has finally arrived! Our recreation staff are all new additions to Pine Vista this year. Lauren, Megan, Mel, and Blake have started their programs and have put a lot of hard work into designing and implementing new ideas. We are very excited for summer 2008.

Heritage Manor, our newest accommodation, is now complete. We have been busy putting on the final touches, and await our first guests of the summer. This accommodation has become very popular and is already full for the summer. It is in the center of the resort and has breath taking views of Stoney Lake.

As a last note: All of us at the resort are ready for a great summer, and we hope you are too. Summers seem to fly by and we know that family vacations are so important in our busy everyday lives. We strive to make these memories lasting and enjoyable for all.

See you soon!
